Africa Film Society is proud to announce our 2nd Season of Classics In The Park will feature a selection of short films from contemporary African filmmakers on the Continent and in the Diaspora. Our call for short films submission is now open.

Below are Eligibility and Submission Guidelines.

  1. Short-length (under 20 minute) narrative, documentary, animated and experimental films.

 2. No Submission Fee required.

3. As applicable, a password protected streaming link of the film must be submitted to africafilmsociety@gmail.com. Submission must include:

a) Title of Film

b) Name of Director

c) Year of Production 

d) Name, Email, Phone Number and Title of Applicant. (ie: Director, Producer, Distributor etc)

4. Non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time submitted

5. ALL territories and countries are eligible. Director or Producer of film MUST be of African descent. 

6. Only one film submission per applicant.

7. Submission Deadline is July 30th 11pm GMT

AFS Screenwriting Competition

The Africa Film Society  Screenwriting Competition seeks to encourage and showcase African screenwriters on the Continent and in the Diaspora. Deadline for Submissions is Dec 30th 2016. Original Stories Only. No Adaptations.

Requirements: 

  • Screenplay must be in PDF format.
  • Applicant must include an attachment with the following information: (Full Name, Age, Phone Number, Email Address, City, Country) 
  • Screenplays must run between 10 and 20 pages in length.
  • Submitted scripts must be original screenplays, and the sole property of the applicant.
  • All screenplays and attachments must be emailed to: africafilmsociety@gmail.com. 
  • Deadline December 30th 2016 11pm GMT.
  • Eligibility: Open to ALL Africans living on the continent and in the diaspora.
  • All rights remain with the author of the script. 
  • No Entry Fee required.
  • Only One script per applicant.

Prize: $500 USD
